Stargazing

“In order to illustrate a basic truth about life, ancient philosophers told a story about the astronomer and the stars. The astronomer habitually took an evening stroll outside the city to gaze at the starry heavens. While lost in stargazing, he fell into a well. His cries for help brought rescuers on the run. One of them advised, ‘It is better to see your very next step than to lose yourself in skies you do not as yet understand.”

Vernon Howard, The Esoteric Path to a New Life, p. 46

  1. The chance of falling in the well is small for the glory of watching the unknown. Instead, build a group of dear friends so you can have the luxury of stargazing knowing they will help you should you happen into a well — you know your friends will know you are missing and come help you!

One life — living it with risk is far better than a long careful life, no?

    Just a counter note! smile.

  2. Or maybe they won’t come… But it’s not the point. The point is to pay attention whatever you are doing.
I can translate that story into: do not look at pretty girls when you are driving a motorcycle. There’s no room for good friends here. :-)
