Receptivity

Contact with the truth brings out either the best or the worst in a man. When we hear a truth, it falls either on the true self or the false self. If it falls on the artificial self, it will be rejected, distorted or ignored, doing no good for the individual. But if a person has a welcoming attitude, the truth falls on his authentic self, providing understanding and relief.

Receptivity is a matter of degree. Our task is to set out the welcome mat more and more, enabling it to increasingly aid us. A little receptivity opens the way for more, for each rewarding experience shows us that the truth we once feared and rejected is the very happiness we want.
